Profile

She is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Finance, Planning and Development, KCA University.
She is an Associate Professor and tourism expert with over 20 years of experience. She has been involved in teaching, research and consultancy in tourism, wildlife and related fields. She has held management positions, including Head of Department of Tourism and Tour Operations Management, Moi University, the Dean, School of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management, Moi University.

She was awarded Chancellor’s Excellence in Service Award in December 2017 for Demonstrating Leadership and Enterprise in Managing the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management. In September 2020, She was appointed a leadership council member of Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Kenya.

She is the founding editor of the African Journal of Tourism and Hospitality and a reviewer of several international journals. She has supervised 12 PhD candidates and over 36 Masters’ candidates to completion. She is an author of more than 20 journal articles and seven book chapters, served as an external examiner of 14 Universities and 2 colleges; a peer reviewer of several referred journals, as well as, with the Commission for University Education, Kenya.

She has carried out numerous projects in the field of tourism and conservation, covering tourism product development, wildlife-based tourism, Community based tourism development, Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises Development, tourism management plans, tourism curricula development, tourism training and research, sustainable tourism development and pro-poor tourism development.
