KCA University has joined over 1300 academic and research institutions who are members of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), a programme of the Outreach Division of the United Nations Department of Global Communications. This is a significant milestone that will raise the profile of KCA University and enable us connect at the global space with the rest of academic institutions.
The registration with the body will also open up opportunities for our alumni and staff who will be looking for opportunities with UN bodies.
As an initiative mandated by the United Nations General Assembly, UNAI aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in supporting and contributing, through research and education to the realization of the organization’s goals and mandates.
UNAI collaborates with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) to promote the implementation and achievement of the SDGSs, particularly SDG 4 on quality education. As a part of the collaboration, UNAI and SDSN mobilize universities and other institutions of higher learning to promote teaching, applied research, and problem solving on a range of issues. The organizations co-host academic events and seminars which bring together members of the UN family and academia to discuss specific issues of research and policy relevant to the UN’s objectives, including the SDGs.
Both United Nations Academic Impact and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network are engaging with the academic community to promote, respectively, the values of the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals
As a member, KCA University will foster and promote the UNAI principals on campus and in the community through faculty, staff and student in undertaking an active role in addressing at least one activity each year which addresses the ten basic UNAI principles.
