JOB OBJECTIVE

  • The job holder will implement the University’s marketing strategies to enhance its brand internally and externally and position KCA University as a University of Choice. The Head of Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and Communication will shape the university’s reputation, work to attract students, and foster engagement with key stakeholders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Leadership and Management

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy that is aligned with the university’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Lead campaigns to enhance the university’s reputation locally, nationally, and globally.
  • Oversee brand management, ensuring consistency across all university materials and platforms.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including government bodies, corporate partners, industry leaders, and alumni.
  • Represent the university at public events, conferences, and high-profile meetings to promote its strategic interests.
  • Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on corporate communication, public relations, and reputation management
  • Drive enrollment marketing campaigns to attract prospective students.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to promote research achievements, events, and programs.
  • Utilize data-driven marketing strategies to optimize audience engagement across digital and traditional channels.
  • Oversee the creation of impactful messaging for both internal (faculty, staff, students) and external (donors, media, and the public) audiences.
  • Manage crisis communication plans to address reputational risks.
  • Lead the university’s media relations strategy, including press releases, interviews, and editorial content.
  • Spearhead the adoption of innovative technologies in marketing and communication (e.g., AI-driven personalization, social media analytics, SEO).
  • Optimize the university’s online presence, including its website and social media channels.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Strategic Communications, Corporate Affairs, or an MBA
  • A degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Business Administration, Journalism, or a closely related field.
  • Familiarity with higher education systems and policies
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing marketing strategies to enhance institutional visibility and reputation.
  • Experience in managing stakeholder relationships, including government agencies, industry partners, alumni, and donors.
  • Expertise in media relations, crisis communication, and crafting key messages for diverse audiences.
  • At least 8 years of work experience, with 2 years working at a senior management level in a university or similar institution.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing trends, analytics, and tools to drive online engagement and lead generation.
  • Membership to the relevant professional body.

OTHER SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams in a fast-paced academic environment.
  • Strong networking skills to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and community groups.
  • Proficiency in analyzing marketing metrics, trends, and audience insights to inform strategy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to craft compelling narratives for a variety of audiences.
  • Capacity to navigate the evolving landscape of higher education and integrate best practices in marketing and corporate affairs.
  • Certification in areas such as Digital Marketing, Public Relations or Corporate Communication.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.
