Jacinta Kazenzi, a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Security and Forensics at KCA University has clinched the coveted Digital Energy Solution Award sponsored by African Start Energy. Her innovative project, “Taka Points,” earned her the top prize in a competition that saw participation from nine universities across Kenya. The award aimed to identify groundbreaking digital innovations in clean energy and invited innovators and spin-offs from Kenyan universities to submit their ideas.
Among four finalists selected to present their solutions to an international jury on September 11, 2024; Jacinta’s pitch, “Taka Points,” stood out for its inventive approach to waste management by gamifying the process. This innovation not only contributes to cleaner cities but also engages the community by rewarding individuals for responsibly managing waste.
Speaking about the inspiration behind her idea, Jacinta shared, “Winning this award is validation that digital technology can indeed be a force for good, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to make an impact.”
