17^th Graduation Ceremony

The 17th Graduation Ceremony of KCA University, held on the 29th of November 2024, was a day of immense pride and celebration for the entire university community. Under the theme, “Charting New Horizons in Research and Academic Excellence for Lifelong Learning,” the event brought together graduates, faculty, staff, families, and distinguished guests to honour the achievements of the Class of 2024.

The ceremony saw the conferment of 1 Doctorate, 152 Master’s degrees, 1,699 Bachelor’s degrees, 40 Postgraduate Diplomas, 745 Diplomas, and 135 Certificates. Each graduate’s achievement reflected their hard work, determination, and resilience. This year’s diverse and dynamic class embodied the spirit of KCA University—dedicated to lifelong learning and global impact.

The 17th graduation ceremony also showcased KCA University’s growing reputation as an academic excellence and innovation leader. The university’s investment in cutting-edge research, community initiatives, and student-centred learning environments has positioned it as a beacon of hope and progress in the region. Events like the Innovation and Industry Summit Week and the Food Novation Event reflect the institution’s commitment to empowering students to think critically and creatively to solve real-world challenges.

In his address, Vice Chancellor & CEO Prof. Isaiah I.C Wakindiki celebrated the graduates’ accomplishments while recognizing the university’s role as a hub of innovation. He highlighted several outstanding projects that emerged during the 3rd Innovation and Industry Summit Week:

Farm-Wise: A cutting-edge innovative automation solution tailored for poultry farmers, demonstrating the university’s commitment to addressing practical challenges in agriculture.
Project-Enabled Smart Glass: A groundbreaking integration of artificial intelligence designed to assist visually impaired individuals in navigating their surroundings.
Food Novation Event: A vibrant display of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit featuring reimagined traditional recipes using indigenous ingredients, eco-friendly food packaging solutions, and concepts promoting healthy living.

The Vice Chancellor’s words resonated deeply with the graduates; “Graduands, let the achievements of these innovators inspire you. Whether in the sciences, arts, business, or community service, the spirit of innovation is a beacon that will guide you as you embark on your next chapter. Never underestimate the power of your ideas or the impact you can create. As you leave here today, remember that you carry the tools, the knowledge, and the courage to make a difference in the world.”

He also highlighted the transformative power of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). “As we celebrate your academic success today, we must recognize the opportunities and challenges of emerging technologies. Automation transforms careers across industries, shifting the demand from routine tasks to creativity, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. We must harness technology not as a threat but as a tool to amplify our abilities. Lifelong learning, adaptability, and curiosity will define those who lead the way in this new era.”

The Chancellor, FCPA Dr Martin Oduor, in his inaugural remarks at the graduation ceremony, emphasized the evolving role of universities in addressing global and local challenges. He acknowledged the rapid digitalization of education, the impact of artificial intelligence, and the shifting societal expectations that have redefined higher education.
“In an era marked by unprecedented change, universities remain pivotal institutions for driving innovation, fostering global collaboration, and addressing humanity’s most pressing challenges. There is profound transformation being navigated by universities worldwide, and I am proud to see KCA University at the forefront of this movement.”

Jubilant celebrations, heartfelt reflections, and the undeniable sense of a bright future ahead marked the ceremony. The Class of 2024 left the event as graduates and ambassadors of KCA University’s values: academic excellence, innovation, and service to humanity.
